Luis Cartagena is passionate about helping others find success through education and entrepreneurship. As President/CEO of Cartagena CPA & Consultants, LLC he provides accounting, tax, financial management and consulting services to individuals, and small to medium size companies. In his previous role as Inclusion Officer for Cuyahoga County, he focused on providing diversity outreach to vendors, potential vendors, stakeholders, and the community. Cartagena also provided support internally and externally regarding the County’s inclusion initiatives.
Cartagena worked as the Strategic Planning Business Advisor with the Minority Business Development Agency Business Center – Cleveland, where he assisted minority-owned business enterprises in creating and retaining jobs via access to procurement opportunities in both the private and public sector. He also assisted firms in securing access to capital via venture capital, microlending, or government supported loan guarantee programs.
Luis strongly believes in the power of developing strong communities and relationships, which is evidenced by his willingness to volunteer. Cartagena is on the Board of Trustees for Saint Luke’s Foundation, and is a member of the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority Audit Committee. Luis is the past Chairman of the Hispanic Business Center, and a member of Crain’s Business Diversity Council. Cartagena is also actively engaged through initiatives focused on leadership development and civic engagement, as President of the Hispanic Roundtable Community Programs.
Cartagena is a Trustee for the MetroWest Community Development Organization, which services multiple wards within the City of Cleveland. He is also a past trustee for the Cuyahoga County Community Improvement Corporation, which serves for the sole purpose of advancing, encouraging and promoting the industrial, economic, commercial and civic development of Cuyahoga County. The Corporation serves as Cuyahoga County’s review agent for industrial revenue bond financing and economic development lending activity.
Luis is a State of Ohio licensed Certified Public Accountant. He holds an MBA in Financial Planning and Accounting from Ursuline College, and is a NASBITE Certified Global Business Professional. A proud Clevelander, Cartagena is married and has three children.
